Disaster Preparedness & Recovery

#1 Asset - your team

Know your insurance (home, medical, & life), before storm crosses 100 W longitude.  Document Assets with photo / video.  Get a pre-storm roof inspection.  Planning to pay for repairs/recovery.

#2 Clients/Customers

How can I help?  Additional resources or credit terms for clients effected by a disaster.  Unconventional resources that can help customers working through disasters like use of office space.

#3 Business Operations

Failure to plan is planning to fail.

Contingency plans need to cover more than hurricanes and cyber attacks.  If you have disaster plan consider writing a recovery plan.

Preparedness

Build a workbook that is updated as part of business processes.  Ex: call tree managed by HR as part of hiring.  Document / Test resources as part of upgrades and replacements.  Prepared is not a one‑time achievement.

Round Table Testing

Game show with wheel of errors and a phrase to guess "WE GO_ __ COVERED"
more than what if there is a hurricane

Recovery Plan(s)

Failure to Plan is Planning to Fail.  There is not a one size fits all when it comes to all the things that can impact business.  Knowing who needs to be in the room to start the process is a common component and a good place to start.
